Eggciting Times!

Standard

We have had some turkey eggs in an incubator in the Discovery Zone for the past 28 days which the children in year 1 and 2 have been watching closely. They were delighted to come into school this morning to find that 8 of the eggs had hatched overnight. The poults (the name for a baby turkey) will stay in school for a couple of weeks before they start getting too big. They will then go to live in a vinery where the adult turkeys who laid the eggs live.

The year 1 and 2 children are really enjoying looking at the poults and are looking forward to giving them cuddles! They have even been inspired to make baby turkeys out of clay and junk modelling!

Fantastic, this created some wonderful conversation over dinner tonight and Molly can’t wait to get to school to see if more have hatched.
What a fantastic learning opportunity, thank you.
