Football Fun

Standard

Well done to the children in Year Three and Four who took part in the friendly tournament today.

The boys played some exciting football and scored some brilliant goals. They remained unbeaten throughout!

I hope to see the year 4s at football club in September!

Winners!

Standard

A huge well done to the girls’ football team who won the tournament at Beau Sejour this afternoon.

A special mention goes to Clara and Tilly who were a superb sisterly duo, scoring 4 goals!

And Abi who made her debut today performing brilliantly in goal and defence.

Each player’s effort and commitment to every game was outstanding – we played the whole tournament with no substitutes- and their success was thoughrouly deserved.

Have a rest now girls!!

Girl’s football tournament Friday@BSJ

Standard

Assuming the weather improves, this tournament is still going ahead.  All players who have already returned their permission slips need to bring their trainers, water bottle, shin pads, inhalers (if needed) and extra snack to school on Friday.

Players should meet Miss Strange in her room at break time where they will be given kit and transport arrangements will be finalised. Thank you to those parents who have said they can provide transport.  We aim to leave school at 3 for a 3:30 start and the tournament ends at approximately 5:30.

Please contact me via email should you have any questions before Friday.

Many thanks

Miss Strange

Girls achieve 3rd place in tournament

Standard

A team of Year 5 and 6 girls took part in a GFA 5 a side competition yesterday evening at Beau Sejour.

The girls did fantastically well, finishing a close second in their group, scoring a total of 13 goals in 4 matches! Hatricks from Marni de Freitas and Mali Smith as well as goals from Clara Hamilton, helped the team earn 4 – 0 then 5 -0 victories -the biggest wins in St Martin’s girls’ footballing history!

Our group place meant we faced a strong Norte Dame side in the semi final. Resolute defending from Ellie Mourant, Emilia Ozanne and Felicity Coupe as well as excellent saves from Martha Falla meant the game finished 1-1. The match was then decided by a ‘golden goal’. Unfortunately Norte Dame caught us on the break and got the goal. Leaving us in 3rd place overall.

Although they are disappointed not to win, the girls should be incredibly proud of their performance and determination this evening. We are now looking forward to the 7 aside tournament in a months time.
